Fundraising

Many volunteers raise part or all of their programme fee. You do not have to fundraise — but if you want to, these ideas can help you get started.

Why fundraise?

Fundraising spreads the cost, involves your community in your journey, and builds skills you will use on placement — communication, planning, and confidence.

Ideas that work

  • Share your story on social media with a clear goal and deadline
  • Host a bake sale, quiz night, or sports challenge
  • Ask friends and family to contribute instead of birthday gifts
  • Offer skills (tutoring, photography, gardening) in exchange for donations
  • Partner with a school, church, or club for a sponsored event
  • Apply for small grants or youth travel awards where available

Tips for success

Be specific about what the money covers (programme fee, flights, insurance). Thank supporters publicly and update them when you arrive and after you return. Keep records of funds raised for transparency.

We can help

Tell us you are fundraising when you enquire. We can share programme details and talking points you can use in applications or campaigns. Programme fees and inclusions are listed clearly on our pricing page.
